EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) – Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis says a female cheerleader is OK after she was taken off the court on a stretcher.
The cheerleader was raised into the air and fell face first onto the court during a timeout Wednesday night when the Spartans hosted Florida State.
Dr. Jeff Kovan, the basketball team’s physician, was among the medical personnel who evaluated the cheerleader. She was slowly strapped to a backboard and her head was immobilized.
The cheerleader smiled and stuck both thumbs up when the crowd cheered after she was raised onto a stretcher.
Hollis, who says he couldn’t give her name, says she would undergo tests at a local hospital.
