NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -Herb Pope finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead Seton Hall to a 93-53 win over New Jersey Institute of Technology on Monday night.
Pope shot 10-for-14 from the field and recorded five blocks for the Pirates (5-0). Jeremy Hazell added 21 points, while Jamel Jackson chipped in with 15.
Seton Hall jumped out to a 37-21 lead late in the first half thanks to an 11-0 run. The Pirates held a 43-27 lead at halftime.
A layup from Robert Mitchell capped a 15-2 Pirates’ run to start the second half, making the score 58-29 with 16:39 remaining.
The Highlanders (2-4) were led by Isaiah Wilkerson, who scored 14 points. Nick Lopez and Sammy Schickel grabbed eight rebounds apiece.
The game was Pope’s fourth straight with a double-double. Seton Hall is off to its best start since 2007-08, when they began the season 6-0.
