PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -Peter Sullivan’s jump shot in the closing minutes broke a tie and gave Brown a 53-51 win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
Sullivan, who scored a game-high 20 points, buried a 15-footer with 1:56 remaining to cap a second half during which he hit 4-of-6 shots.
E. Michigan (1-6) had two chances to tie the score and force overtime. But Brandon Bowdry committed a turnover and Wendale Farrow’s jumper hit the rim at the buzzer.
Matt Mullery pulled down 13 rebounds for Brown (3-3).
Solomon Farris led E. Michigan with 13 points while L.J. Frazier added 11.
Eastern Michigan led early and its tough man-to-man defense forced Brown into 10 first half turnovers. But after a 12-2 run, Brown trailed just 28-26 at the half.
The second half featured nine lead changes, the last one coming on Sullivan’s final basket.
