KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) – Aaron Pogue scored 20 points and Cleveland State defeated Rhode Island 67-45 on Sunday in a Legends Classic subregional game.
The Vikings (6-1) took control early, turning a 5-4 lead into an 18-6 advantage on Anton Grady’s layup with 13:41 left in the first half.
Pogue, who shot 8 for 10, scored seven points and Cleveland State turned six turnovers into six points during the 13-2 run.
The Vikings scored 26 off of 21 Rhode Island turnovers in the game, and shot 51.8 percent from the field (29 of 56).
D’Aundray Brown added 15 points and Trevon Harmon had 14 for Cleveland State.
The Rams, who shot 39.6 percent from the field (21 of 53), had just one player score in double figures. Orion Outerbridge led Rhode Island (1-5) with 12 points. The Rams were 0 for 8 from 3-point range and just 3 of 10 from the free-throw line.
