VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) – Brandon Bos and Tyler Larson scored 22 and 19 points, respectively as South Dakota used a big second-half run to break away from Division II Wayne State 86-69 Wednesday night for its first win this season.
The Coyotes (1-5), in their home opener, received 20-plus points from Bos for the second game in a row and third time this season. They’d lost their previous three games in overtime, triple overtime and a four-point regulation loss in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.
The Wildcats (1-4) placed four in double figures, led by Patrick Kurth with 19 points and seven rebounds. Kurth has scored in double figures every game this season.
Wayne State trailed 47-40 at the half, but closed to 48-46 before South Dakota reeled off an 18-5 run that featured 3-pointers by Bos and Eric Robertson.
