BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) - Javonte Maynor scored 21 points and Cal State Bakersfield survived a scare from Idaho State, winning 71-69.
Maynor was 7 of 10 from the 3-piont mark accounting for all of his points. CSUB shot 50 percent from the field, matching their season average.
The Roadrunners (4-1) led at half 43-36, but Idaho State (2-2) had other ideas in the second half, scratching back to a 56-55 lead with 7 minutes left. A couple timely 3-pointers by Maynor helped put Bakersfield back on top, leading 68-61 with 3 minutes to play.
The Bengals once again narrowed the gap trailing by two with 18 seconds to go before a turnover gave the ball to CSUB. The Bengals were forced to foul and the Roadrunners made both free throws putting the game out of reach.
Chris Hansen matched his season average by scoring 19 points and Andre Hatchett added 17 for the Bengals
