LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP) -Tyler Hansbrough, who missed the first two games of the season while recovering from a stress reaction in his right leg, was held out of No. 1 North Carolina's game against Chaminade on Monday night in the opening round of the EA Sports Maui Invitational.
The reigning national player of the year played 25 minutes and scored 13 points Friday night in the Tar Heels' 84-67 victory at UC Santa Barbara, tweaking his left ankle near the end of the game.
He wasn't expected to play all three games in as many days in the Maui tournament, so he will miss at least the opener against the Division II host school.
He played in all 108 games in his first three seasons with North Carolina.
