WACO, Texas (AP) – The preseason Big 12 player of the year has found a spot at the end of the Baylor bench while waiting for his season debut.
That wait is almost over for Perry Jones III and Baylor.
Jones, who returned for his sophomore season instead of becoming the Bears’ first one-and-done player, will miss only two more games as part of an NCAA suspension for accepting improper benefits before he got to Baylor.
Without Jones, the Bears are still 3-0 and have climbed to No. 9 in the rankings. They play South Carolina State on Tuesday night, and then Texas-Arlington the next night.
Jones finally will get to play Nov. 29 against Prairie View, the last of six consecutive home games for Baylor to start the season.
