LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -Louisville freshman point guard Elisha Justice grew up rooting for Kentucky, just like everybody else in his eastern Kentucky hometown.
Yet Justice kept his word when he told Louisville coach Rick Pitino he would join the Cardinals as a preferred walk-on even though other schools offered to give him a full scholarship.
Pitino gave Justice the nickname “Bullet” because of the way he darts up and down the floor. Justice lived up to the hype in a season-opening upset of No. 17 Butler on Tuesday, scoring 12 points and adding six rebounds in 21 minutes after starter Peyton Siva ran into foul trouble.
Justice and the Cardinals host Jackson State (0-3) on Saturday.
