BOSTON (AP) -Joe Trapani scored seven of his 19 points during a game-breaking second-half run that led Boston College to an 82-70 quarterfinal win over St. John's Tuesday night in the NIT Season Tip-0ff tournament.
Tyrese Rice paced the Eagles (3-0) with 28 points and nine assists. It was the first meeting between the schools since BC bolted the Big East for the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2005. Rakim Sanders added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles.
BC will play No. 11 Purdue in the semifinals at Madison Square Garden in New York next Wednesday.
