HAMMOND, La. (AP) – JaMichael Hawkins scored a game-high 19 points to lead Southeastern Louisiana past Champion Baptist College 108-54 on Thursday night.
The Lions (2-1) took the lead on a Hawkins jumper barely a minute into the game and never trailed. Hawkins opened the second half with a pair of 3-pointers and a layup in a 40-second span to bump the lead to 35 points, at 62-27. He has been the leading scorer for Southeastern Louisiana in all three games.
All 11 players scored for Southeastern Louisiana. Onochie Ochie scored 18 points – breaking an 0-for-11 drought through two games. Devonte Upson added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Lions, his first double-double at the Division I level. Joshua Filmore had 15 points and Dre Evans compiled a career-high 10 assists.
Champion Baptist (0-5) was led by Josiah Capaci with 15 points and Zach Hendricks with 12.
