 NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Deonte Alexander led four Lipscomb players in double figures in a 73-55 victory over Maryville (Mo.) Monday night.
Lipscomb (1-1) dominated the first half against the NAIA Division II Saints, leading 43-24 at halftime. The Bisons, up 17-13 midway through the half, went on a 9-0 run. Stephen Hurt scored seven straight points during the spurt to make it 26-13.
Lipscomb later expanded its lead from 31-21 to 42-21. Alexander hit two jumpers in that stretch, one a 3-pointer.
The Bisons outrebounded Maryville 38-16, pulling down 12 on the offensive glass. Guard Khion Stankey was scoreless but took 12 boards.
Martin Smith and J.C. Hampton scored 13 points each for Lipscomb, and Hurt had 10.
Armon Provo (10 points) was the only double-figure scorer for Maryville (2-0), which considered the game an exhibition. Darrin Young Jr. added eight points for the Saints, who were 7 of 28 on treys.
