DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -Landon Clement scored 15 points and C.J. Wilkerson 14 as North Carolina Central opened its season with a 90-30 victory over Johnson & Wales on Friday night.
Justin Leemow, Nick Chasten and Dijon Manns scored 10 points apiece for the Eagles, who shot 58.5 percent from the field and got points from 11 different players.
Michael Pugh scored eight points and Roderick Latimer seven for the Wildcats (0-7), an NAIA opponent, who shot just 18.8 percent from the field.
North Carolina Central scored the first 20 points in the game, eight of them by Chasten, before a jumper by Joseph Quispe gave the Wildcats their first points. It was 50-15 by halftime, and Wilkerson had 12 of his points.
Johnson & Wales committed 28 turnovers, helping the Eagles to a 28-2 advantage in fast-break points and a 56-8 edge in points in the paint.
