 FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) -Josh Akognon scored 24 of his career-high 31 points in the second half to lead Cal State Fullerton to an 87-67 rout of Cal State Los Angeles on Sunday.
Akognon scored 15 consecutive points in a span of 2:57 during the second half and made 11 of 18 shots, including seven of 13 from 3-point range.
Frank Robinson added 12 points, nine rebounds and two blocks for the Titans (2-0).
Christofer Hart had 23 points and Demetrius Hazel added 19 points for the Golden Eagles. The Division II team considered the game an exhibition and the result will not count toward its record.
Los Angeles recovered from a 9-2 deficit to move ahead 30-25 with 5:19 left in the first half. Hazel scored 11 points during the rally and Hart had nine points. But Akognon and Marcus Crenshaw each scored five points during a 15-2 surge that gave Fullerton a 40-32 halftime lead.
The Titans, who led by as many as 31, forced the Golden Eagles to shoot 37.9 percent and commit 12 turnovers in the second half.
