ITHICA, N.Y. (AP) – Dylon Cormier scored 34 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Loyola (MD) topped Cornell 93-89 in overtime on Sunday.
Loyola (2-0) trailed 73-66 with less than six minutes to play in regulation when Cormier rattled off seven straight points to tie the game at 73 with 3:49 left. Cormier also scored 8 points in the overtime period.
Cornell (0-2) was down by 4 with 25 seconds left in regulation, but Robert Hatter hit two free throws with 3 seconds remaining to force overtime. Hatter finished with a career-high 32 points, and Dwight Tarwater added a career-high 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Big Red.
Cornell was coming off an 82-60 loss to Syracuse at the Carrier Dome in which they led the Orange by 14 points at one point in the first half.
