CLEVELAND (AP) – Cleveland State has given coach Gary Waters a new seven-year contract.
Waters, who has led the Vikings to the postseason in four of the past five seasons, will coach the Vikings through 2018-19. Waters’ new deal replaces the one he signed with the school in 2009.
Waters is 122-82 at Cleveland State, which has risen among the mid-major schools since he arrived in 2006 after a stint at Rutgers. Waters also coached at Kent State.
The Vikings made the NCAA tournament in 2009, just the second time Cleveland State has earned a bid. Waters has led the Vikings to Horizon League championships in 2009 and 2011.
Waters calls his situation with Cleveland State “a marriage made in heaven.”
