FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) – Arkansas coach Mike Anderson has the Razorbacks more molded to his pressing, up-tempo style in his second season.
The Razorbacks open the season Friday night against Sam Houston State. Arkansas will feature seven new players this season, including four freshmen, but the team will be without leading scorer BJ Young for the opener.
Young was suspended before an exhibition game earlier this week and will also miss Friday’s opener for a violation of team rules.
The Razorbacks, who were 18-14 last season and missed the NCAA tournament for the fourth straight year, appear to have plenty of depth to pick up the slack created by Young’s absence. That depth is led by the return of forward Marshawn Powell, who missed most of last season because of a knee injury.
