INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -No. 17 Butler has big plans for this season.
Seven months after coming inches within winning a national championship, the Bulldogs are back at Hinkle Fieldhouse hoping to finish the job this season.
First-round NBA pick Gordon Hayward and two other players are gone. But Butler (33-5 last season) is convinced it can keep right on winning.
The Bulldogs will build around guards Ronald Nored and Shelvin Mack, and forward Matt Howard. Coach Brad Stevens plans to stay with his three-guard lineup by making senior Shawn Vanzant a starter.
Butler opens its season Saturday at home against Marian. The schedule includes a Dec. 4 rematch against Duke, which beat the Bulldogs for the NCAA championship back in April.
