MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -Reserve Kevin Jones scored 21 points to lead No. 8 West Virginia to a 104-82 exhibition victory over Mountain State on Sunday.
Devin Ebanks and junior college transfer Casey Mitchell added 19 points apiece. WVU opened the game on a 30-8 run and never trailed.
The Mountaineers took advantage of sloppy ball-handling by Mountain State, scoring 16 first-half points off turnovers.
Alvin Mitchell led the NAIA Cougars with 33 points and Nick Aldridge added 29.
West Virginia shot 48 percent for the game. The Mountaineers had 11 players score, with four of them reaching double figures.
Mountain State outscored West Virginia in the second half, but couldn’t overcome a 24-point first half deficit.
