MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -Memphis freshman guard Jelan Kendrick has returned to practice with the Tigers after a two-week absence to deal with a “personal matter.”
Kendrick practiced with the 19th-ranked Tigers on Thursday, though coach Josh Pastner has not decided when he will be allowed to play. Memphis plays Christian Brothers in exhibition on Tuesday before opening the 2010-11 season at home against Centenary on Nov. 12.
CBSSports.com has reported Kendrick was indefinitely suspended while school officials investigated a verbal threat he made against a teammate. Pastner declined comment on the report, only calling Kendrick’s absence a personal matter.
The McDonald’s All-American from Atlanta was rated the No. 8 prospect by Rivals.com and the No. 2 shooting guard by PrepStars.com Scout.com.
