MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -Memphis forward Joey Dorsey was sidelined for the third-ranked Tigers' season opener Monday night against Tennessee-Martin with a right shoulder sprain.
Dorsey, Memphis' only senior, was hurt during a scrimmage Oct. 27. He averaged 8.4 points and a team-high 9.4 rebounds per game last season.
Shawn Taggart, the 6-foot-10 Iowa State transfer, started in his place. Dorsey, who is also expected to miss Tuesday night's game in the second round of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, participated in warm-ups and was in uniform.
