DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -Freshman Kyle Singler had 27 points and 10 rebounds, and No. 13 Duke routed defending Division II national champion Barton 105-44 in an exhibition game Saturday night.
Fellow freshman Nolan Smith had 18 points, and sophomore Gerald Henderson added 17 for the Blue Devils, who led by 61 in their final preseason tuneup before Friday night’s opener against crosstown foe North Carolina Central.
Singler’s layup put the Blue Devils up 18-17 near the midpoint of the first half, giving Duke the lead for good and starting a 26-6 run that broke things open.
DeMarcus Nelson had 14 points, and Jon Scheyer finished with 11 for Duke.
Aaron Suggs had eight points to lead Barton, which shot just 34 percent and committed 36 turnovers that led to 50 points for the Blue Devils.
