Kyrie Irving should have made his NBA debut this week. Instead, he was hanging with the Cameron Crazies at Duke and cheering on his former team.
Irving’s rookie season with the Cleveland Cavaliers has been delayed because of the lockout. So he joined the growing club of NBA players who are returning to their alma maters for workouts and scrimmages.
Ray Allen, Tyler Hansbrough and Paul Pierce are among the stars spotted on campus.
The lockout means more than lost games and hefty paychecks. Access to NBA practice facilities have been cut off.
NBA players are going old school and enjoying their roles in helping shape this season’s team at their former programs.
