WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) – Robbie Hummel scored 18 points to help Purdue beat Northern State 78-46 in the Boilermakers’ exhibition opener Tuesday night.
It was Hummel’s first game action since he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in February 2010. He missed all of last season after re-injuring the knee in preseason practice.
His first real test came early. He drove down the lane, drew contact, scored and was fouled with 14:34 left in the first half. He completed the three-point play to give the Boilermakers a 12-4 lead.
He hit a 3-pointer and was fouled with 9:38 left in the first half and completed the four-point play. He finished the first half with 15 points and six rebounds.
