MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – Memphis coach Josh Pastner says freshman Jelan Kendrick is dealing with a “personal matter” and that they will “revisit the situation” when the McDonald’s All-American returns to the Tigers.
The 6-foot-6 guard last practiced with the Tigers on Friday. CBSSports.com reported Tuesday that Kendrick has been indefinitely suspended while school officials investigate a verbal threat the freshman made against a teammate.
Asked if Kendrick had been suspended for fighting with teammates, Pastner said before practice Tuesday that he wanted to be consistent on what he calls a personal matter.
The Atlanta, Ga., native was rated the No. 8 prospect by Rivals.com and PrepStars.com Scout.com rated him the nation’s No. 2 shooting guard.
