UConn
Last season: 20-15, lost in first round of NIT.
Nickname: Huskies. Coach: Kevin Ollie
Conference: American Athletic Conference.
Key returners: Sophomore swingman Daniel Hamilton, who was last season’s AAC Rookie of the Year, is back, along with 7-foot shot blocker Amidah Brimah and shooting guard Rodney Purvis (11.6 points per game). The Huskies have four other players who saw significant playing time last season.
Who left: The Huskies lost point guard Ryan Boatright to graduation. The team’s emotional leader led UConn in scoring (17.4 points), assists and steals.
The Skinny: UConn has added graduate transfers Sterling Gibbs (Texas, Seton Hall) and Shonn Miller (Cornell) to a deep squad that also includes highly touted recruits Jalen Adams and Steven Enoch. The Huskies are expected to contend for the conference title and return to the form that saw them win the program’s fourth national title in 2014.
