KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Marcus Smart has a simple message for Andrew Wiggins: Prove it.
It's the same message that his veteran Oklahoma State teammates want to deliver to Wiggins' young, hungry group of Jayhawks this season.
Smart bristled at the Big 12's annual media day Tuesday when the star guard was asked about the hype surrounding Wiggins, the consensus No. 1 recruit in the nation. Smart went on to say that he knows Wiggins is a tremendous player, but he hasn't accomplished anything yet.
Smart would have been a lottery pick in the NBA draft had he come out last year, but instead he returned for his sophomore season. So naturally, he believes he's the league's best player.
Just like he believes Oklahoma State, not Kansas, is the league's top team.
