STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) – Patrick Chambers didn’t waste time when he arrived at the gym to whistle his first Penn State practice into session.
A weekend later, after four practices in three days, point guard Tim Frazier felt a little sore.
Chambers was named Penn State’s head coach in June – and he seemingly hasn’t stopped moving since arriving from Boston University.
The practice pace appears to match Chambers’ personality. Frazier said this week they have been high intensity from the start. Chambers emphasizes defensive hustle plays such as diving for loose ball and deflections.
The Nittany Lions are coming off their first NCAA appearance in a decade, yet are starting anew after Ed DeChellis’ surprising resignation in May as his alma mater’s coach to take the same job at Navy.
