MALIBU, Calif. (AP) -Kingsley Costain, Pepperdine's top returning scorer, has been dismissed from school for a violation of university policy.
``It's unfortunate to lose a player of Kingsley's caliber so close to the start of the season,'' coach Vance Walberg said in a statement issued Friday. ``We are going to miss him and we wish him the best.
``We've been practicing hard and getting ready for the new season and we will have to find a way to overcome this big loss.''
Costain, a 5-foot-7 guard from Toronto, averaged 11.5 points as a junior last season. He finishes his career with 146 3-pointers to rank fifth on the school's career list.
