CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) – The Illinois basketball team is kicking off the 2010-11 season with the annual Illini Madness.
Students and fans packed Huff Hall on Friday night as players participated in a dunk and 3-point contest.
Illinois is looking to move past a disappointing 2009-10 season where it finished 21-15 and failed to get off the bubble and into the NCAA tournament. Instead, Illinois entered the NIT where it was eliminated by Dayton in the quarterfinals.
In a prerecorded video that played before team introductions, senior guard Demetri McCamey said the team is ready to “do damage this year.”
The Illini begin their quest for redemption as they open the regular season Nov. 8 against UC Irvine at Assembly Hall.
