STORRS, Conn. (AP) – Connecticut basketball coach Jim Calhoun was back at practice one day after spending more than 13 hours in front of the NCAA committee on infractions in Indianapolis.
Calhoun declined to comment on the hearing after the team’s first practice, which lasted about 3 1/2 hours Saturday.
On Friday, he other UConn officials, including president Philip Austin and athletic director Jeff Hathaway, tried to convince the committee that the school’s self-imposed sanctions were sufficient punishment for eight major violations alleged by NCAA enforcement staff.
Calhoun said he was eager to get to the gym because it’s “a place I feel comfortable.”
A decision on any added sanctions is expected in four to six weeks.
