BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) – Indiana fans are trying to pump some excitement back into the start of basketball season.
After a bleak week in which two of its top players were injured and coach Tom Crean acknowledged breaking a secondary NCAA rule, hundreds of fans arrived more than two hours early to see the Hoosiers practice.
It was a day later than most programs opened practice. But Indiana moved back its schedule in hopes of getting one of the state’s top uncommitted recruits, Gary Harris, to attend Hoosier Hysteria.
Former Indiana player Eric Gordon and D.J. White, who now play in the NBA, are also expected to be there for the festivities.
The Hoosiers are trying to produce their first winning season under Crean.
