EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) - Northwestern junior guard JerShon Cobb has been suspended for the 2012-13 season for violating team policy. The 6-foot-5 Cobb averaged 7.1 points in 21 games last season and 7.4 points as a freshman in 27 games. He started 33 games the last two seasons. The school said Cobb remains enrolled Northwestern and is still a part of the basketball program. He will have two years of eligibility remaining. Cobb's loss is a blow to Northwestern, who also lost the leading scorer in school history when John Shurna finished out his four years. Northwestern is one of a handful of schools to have never played in the NCAA tournament. The Wildcats finished 19-14 last season when they made a fourth straight trip to the NIT. |
