LOS ANGELES (AP) -UCLA men's basketball coach Ben Howland has undergone an appendectomy.
Howland was resting comfortably Thursday, a day after he had what the school referred to as a ``standard appendectomy'' performed at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center by Dr. Joe Hines.
Howland said he expects to return to work Monday.
``One of the very best things about being a coach or student-athlete at UCLA is if you need medical attention, you won't find any better place in the country than at the incomparable UCLA Medical Center,'' Howland said.
Howland has a 152-54 record (.738) in six seasons at UCLA, including three straight Final Four appearances from 2006-08, and is 320-153 (.677) in 15 seasons overall.
