PITTSBURGH (AP) -Pitt senior guard Jermaine Dixon has undergone bone graft surgery on his broken right foot and is expected to be out about two months.
Dixon had the operation Wednesday after reinjuring the foot he initially broke in July. Dixon started all 36 games for the Panthers last season, averaging 8.4 points.
Pitt, an NCAA regional finalist last season, is likely to be without two of its top returning players for its Nov. 13 opener against Wofford. Redshirt junior forward Gilbert Brown is academically ineligible during the first semester.
Dixon’s absence might create more playing time for Chase Adams, a 5-foot-11 guard who is eligible immediately. He transferred from Centenary, which is dropping from Division I to Division III.
