RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -North Carolina State freshman Johnny Thomas will miss the basketball season because of a knee injury.
Wolfpack officials said Thomas had diagnostic arthroscopic surgery last week and will have another operation in the future.
“It’s a tough break for Johnny and really a tough break for our team,” coach Sidney Lowe said. “We were confident that Johnny was going to contribute this season. He will still be involved in everything we do as he goes though his rehab, and hopefully all goes well and he will be ready to go next season.”
Thomas, a 6-foot-5 swingman, averaged 19.8 points and 9.8 rebounds at Greensboro Day High School, leading the team to a 31-2 record last season.
