WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) -Holy Cross coach Ralph Willard has agreed to a five-year contract extension that will keep him at the school until 2013.
Willard has a 159-89 record in eight seasons with Crusaders, an average of nearly 20 wins per year. He has taken the team to the NCAA tournament four times, including last season when the team finished 25-9.
He has been named Patriot League coach of the year three times, and four of his players have been named league player of the year.
“Ralph has really elevated this program since he arrived,” athletic director Richard Regan Jr. said. “When we hired him eight years ago, I thought he would fit in very well and time has proven that.”
Willard has a 303-213 record in 17 years as a head coach, including four at Western Kentucky and five at Pittsburgh.
