TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -Alabama point guard Ronald Steele will undergo a second arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Thursday, but is expected to recover in time for the upcoming season, coach Mark Gottfried said.
Steele, who had arthroscopic surgery on both knees in April, will be operated on by Drs. Lyle Cain and James Andrews in Birmingham. It is a follow-up procedure to the earlier operation for the senior.
“My first concern is Ron Steele and my hope is that he will be 100 percent at some point in the near future,” Gottfried said. “It’s disappointing yet at the same time encouraging that hopefully this will give him a conclusion to this process.”
A preseason All-American last year, Steele’s statistics dropped off considerably and he missed six games with the knee problems.
