EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) – Michigan State guard Bryn Forbes will not have to sit out this season after transferring from Cleveland State.
The school said Wednesday that the NCAA has granted the 6-foot-3 Forbes a waiver to play this season.
Forbes, who is from Lansing, Michigan, wanted to attend a school closer to his family. He says getting the waiver will allow him to balance basketball, school and family obligations.
He averaged 15.6 points for Cleveland State last season as a sophomore. Forbes scored 22 points against Kentucky last season, a game in which he made seven 3-pointers. He averaged 2.5 3-pointers per game, ranking second in the Horizon League. Forbes averaged 12.7 points as a freshman and was the league’s newcomer of the year.
