TULSA, Okla. (AP) -Tulsa extended the contract of coach Doug Wojcik by two years Thursday after he pulled the program out of a run of three straight losing seasons.
The extension will keep Wojcik with the Golden Hurricane for six more seasons, through the 2012-13 season.
“I’m excited to receive a contract extension. It shows great commitment toward my staff and I,” Wojcik said in a statement. “There are so many positive things taking place at TU and in the community that make it such an exciting time for my family and I to be in Tulsa.”
In 2005, Wojcik took over a team that had back-to-back nine-win seasons and has a 31-28 record in two seasons at Tulsa. Terms of his contract were not disclosed.
Tulsa went to the NCAA tournament eight times between 1994 and 2003, advancing as far as the round of eight in 2000 under current Kansas coach Bill Self. The Golden Hurricane also won the NIT the following year.
