INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -Members of the NCAA men’s basketball committee are expecting to hear a host of suggestions about how the new 68-team format should be conducted next season.
In April, the NCAA approved an expansion to 68 teams. In May, the basketball committee asked for comments about three proposals – sending the lowest eight seeds to the four opening-round games, putting the last eight at-large teams in those games or some kind of combination.
Committee member Lynn Hickey says she has not yet seen the comments but has been told they are “all over the map” and that schools want the committee to consider additional proposals.
A decision could come before the meetings wrap up next Thursday. But if the debate takes longer, the vote could be delayed until later this summer.
