LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -Louisville has hired Holy Cross head basketball coach Ralph Willard as ``associate coach'' to Rick Pitino.
Pitino said Wednesday in a statement from the Cardinals' athletics department that he had been pursuing Willard for 10 years. Willard previously coached as an assistant under Pitino with the New York Knicks and at the University of Kentucky.
Pitino called Willard one of the best minds in the game.
In 10 seasons at Holy Cross, Willard compiled a record of 192-117, winning 62 percent of his games.
