HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) -Less than a week after firing longtime coach Tom Green, Fairleigh Dickinson has hired assistant Greg Vetrone as interim coach through next season.
The hiring was announced Tuesday by athletic director David Langford, who acknowledged last week that the late timing of Green's dismissal might prompt the school to choose an interim coach.
Vetrone, who was an assistant at FDU in the late 1980s and rejoined the staff last season, has more than 20 years coaching in basketball.
He also has been an assistant coach for LIU-CW Post, California-Irvine and Nevada-Las Vegas. Before his most recent stint at FDU, Vetrone coached Portchester High School.
