LEWISTON, N.Y. (AP) – Former Niagara guard Emilio “Zeke” Sinicola, who went on to play two seasons with the NBA’s Fort Wayne Pistons, has died after a brief illness. He was 82.
Niagara announced Tuesday that Sinicola died at the Veterans Administration Hospital in his native New York City.
Sinicola scored 1,188 points from 1948-51 to become the first Niagara player to break the 1,000-point mark. He was a member of Niagara’s first NIT team in 1950, and was inducted into the school’s hall of fame in 1967.
Sinicola was selected fourth overall by Fort Wayne in the 1951 NBA draft.
