ALLENDALE, Mich. (AP) -Former Michigan point guard Jerret Smith will transfer to Grand Valley State.
The Allendale school said Smith will be eligible to play in the 2008-09 season. He was dismissed in December from the Wolverines for not meeting expectations for a student-athlete.
Grand Valley coach Ric Wesley said in a statement Wednesday that Jerret will be a ``nice addition'' and fills a need for an experienced point guard.
Smith played in 65 games with 13 starts during three years at Michigan. He averaged 4.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists in three seasons.
