LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -Former Kentucky men's basketball coach Billy Gillispie is suing the school's athletics association, seeking $6 million over his firing last spring.
The lawsuit claims breach of contract and fraud. Gillispie was working under a memorandum of understanding but hadn't signed a formal contract during the two years he coached at Kentucky.
Gillispie contends that under that memorandum of understanding, he should be paid $1.5 million a year for four of the five years left on the deal for being fired without cause.
M and still has a home in Lexington, Ky. He is not coaching this year.
