COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) Maryland guard Melo Trimble has withdrawn his name from consideration for the NBA Draft and will return for his junior season.
The Terrapins reached the Sweet 16 last season behind Trimble, who led the team in scoring, assists and steals.
He will be the lone returning starter from a squad that went 27-9.
Because Trimble never hired an agent after announcing his intention to enter the draft, he had the option to return to Maryland.
In a statement released by the university, Trimble said, ”I learned a great deal through this experience. … I look forward to continuing my education and building upon the success that we have had at Maryland.”
Coach Mark Turgeon said, ”After gathering information throughout this process, I agree that this is the best decision for him.”
