INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The coordinator of officials for the Mid-American Conference and Summit League is the NCAA’s new national coordinator of men’s basketball officiating.
The NCAA announced Tuesday that J.D. Collins would take over immediately for John Adams, who retired after last month’s Final Four.
The job requires Collins to provide national leadership for officials, regional advisers, conference coordinators and coaches to assure and increase consistency with the enforcement of playing rules.
Collins has been involved in Division I officiating for two decades. He’s worked two Final Fours and has called games in seven conferences, including the ACC, Big East and Big Ten.
Adams was the national officiating coordinator since 2008.
