BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) – California guard Ricky Kreklow is transferring to another school for his senior season.
Kreklow said in a statement through the university Thursday that it ”was not an easy decision.” He also said transferring ”is not related in any way to the change in coaching staff at Cal.”
Cal hired former Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin last week. Mike Montgomery retired in March after six seasons in Berkeley.
Kreklow averaged 5.5 points and 2.6 rebounds for the Golden Bears last season. He said he’s on track to graduate this summer with a degree in interdisciplinary studies.
Martin said in a statement that ”we fully support Ricky’s decision. We appreciate everything he has done for our program and wish him and his family the best moving forward.”
