HARTFORD, Conn. – Connecticut guard Jamal Coombs-McDaniel has been arrested on a marijuana possession charge.
Campus police say the sophomore was arrested Thursday night with two other people. He was charged with possession of more than four ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police say the three had 5.6 ounces of the drug.
According to the police report, Coombs-McDaniel was picked up just before 11:30 p.m. at the Merritt Hall dormitory on the Storrs campus. He was one of 11 people arrested during the first night of Spring Weekend, an annual weekend of campus parties before final exams.
Coombs McDaniel played in all 41 of UConn’s games during its national championship season, averaging 5.6 points.
A message seeking comment was left for a spokesman for the UConn basketball program.
